Customer Reviews

Here are some of the comments from the people that I have had the pleasure of working with

Kelsall has worked for us a lot and is always very calm and easy to have around. He is highly organised, neat and thorough. Unlike a lot of builders he will not try to blind you with jargon but explains things clearly and gives good, honest advice based on experience. He has been brilliant at thinking around challenging problems to come up with imaginative solutions that work both in our farmhouse (major restructuring of rooms and fitting an unorthodox kitchen, decorating) and in agricultural buildings dealing with leaks and farm plumbing. One other huge advantage of Kelsall over other builders is that he is a qualified plumber and electrician, so if you are planning a big project he can do everything without having to stop-start while waiting for different tradespeople to arrive.

I've lost track of how many jobs Kelsall has done for us over the years: Tiling the kitchen and fitting new lights, double glazing the dining room, bricking up and plastering over an old doorway and opening and fitting a new one, plastering a huge curved ceiling, laying new stone fire-place, re-slating the roof and putting new lead in the box gutter. Every job was done perfectly, on time and on budget. What's not to like? I can't recommend Kelsall highly enough.

We have come to depend over the years, on his reliability and goodwill, in maintaining the property, meeting our demands, and attending to and sorting out problems that arise.

Honest, reliable and willing to put in that extra time and effort to satisfy and provide a first class outcome, I would without hesitation recommend him to anyone requiring his skills.

Colin Wicks - Manager/Convenor of the Worfolk Management Committee - 2004 to 2010

I am delighted with the new kitchen and bathroom that Kelsall McEwen did for me in my holiday home on the east coast, he is a one man band and did everything, even decorating. I am 60 miles away and just left him to get on with it, which is what he did. I could not be more pleased. In the passed he had done all my jobs.

It has been necessary recently to seek the aid of Mr McEwen be it for any electrical, plumbing or decorating problems. The work carried out was of the highest order and I would recommend you call him if you encounter any house maintenance problems in the future. I would like to express my appreciation for the high standard of workmanship carried out by you at all times.

Kelsall has done a lot of work for us over the last couple of years, electrial work, new lighting etc, plastering, painting, a new ceiling in our kitchen, conservatory roof, and building work. He’s very reliable and I would happily recommend him to my friends (in fact I have). He is a lovely man and very trustworthy.

Also looks a bit like Robert Downey Junior

We were fortunate enough to be recommended to Kelsall McEwan, (trading as Greener Building.) Over a period of time he has successfully completed a number of different projects for us, across a range of skills. All have been achieved speedily & efficiently, we recommend him to anyone & wish him well.

Kelsall was responsible for carrying out numerous repairs and regular maintenance on my cottage over a period of several years, until I sold it last year and moved out of the area. He was always reliable and flexible, and his work was of a consistently high standard. He responds to what his clients want, and if he could not see an instant answer to a problem he would think about it whilst away from the job and come up with a solution. It was good to be able to use a builder who was not only pleasant and intelligent, but who shared my concern for the environment.

I first became aware of Kelsall McEwan's work when I was involved with a group of Quakers concerned to develop an eighteen-century farmhouse, Worfolk Cottage, at Staintondale. This had been in our ownership of the Society of Friends for over one hundred years. At the start the building was badly in need of refurbishment.

The vision - to ensure that Worfolk became a 'beacon for sustainability' for future generations using the best available technology was realised over a period of two years 2006 to 2008.

Kelsall was completely committed to this project since its inception. To this day, he plays an important role in providing technical expertise and building services to the current Management Committee. His detailed understanding of all aspects of Worfolk's infrastructure is simply invaluable. His 'can-do' approach to solving any problem, however complex, is at the heart of this commitment.

In the first instance Kelsall provided general building services in support of the architect and project manager, but during the course of the work he became so knowledgable about the new systems being installed, he was asked to take over as project manager and later worked with the architect on a number of other similar projects.

I run a small holiday letting business. For many years Kelsall has been doing repairs on them.

Recently he transformed what was an awkward shaped, dull washroom into a sharp, modern luxurious bathroom. Kelsall is always reliable and efficient. Not only is his work to a high standard, but he offers advice and problem solves.

I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

I have used Kelsall Thomas Mcewen for variety of work on my house for the last 9 years.

Bespoke workbench, book shelving, wardrobe doors, internal and external decorating, rebuilding of open fire surround, electrical installations in house and garden, dismantling of old garage and plumbing repairs.

I would recommend him as he is prompt, reliable, trustworthy, and professional. His work is to a very high standard.

Thomas (Kelsall) has completed a number of jobs for us over the last few years - including installing two complete bathrooms in very limited spaces, which we had thought might well be impossible ! He has risen to the challenge on every occasion; nothing has been too much trouble, and everything has been finished neatly, on time and with a minimum of upheaval. He is adept at joinery, plumbing and electrical work, as well basic building. Highly recommendable !

Frank James. Staintondale

For more than seven years, Tom/Kelsall has worked for us on a number of projects, including plumbing, building and electrical work. He has also designed and built fences, improved insulation and put in a land drain. All of the work has been completed to a very high standard, with great care and minimum disruption. He always cleans up after himself too - a rare trait!

Tom/Kelsall, himself, is always cheerful, totally reliable and trustworthy. He is considerate and not intrusive. We would have no hesitation in recommending him.

Jean Guyler. Staintondale

Thomas has done a variety of jobs to my house and these include painting, guttering, plumbing, electrical work and dry lining a living room. Thomas is a most personable young man and it is a pleasure to have him working in my house.

Kelsall has worked on many projects at the Quaker Meeting House in Scarborough, from minor repairs to large-scale renovations and remedial work. His work is of a consistently high quality at a very reasonable price. He not only undertakes the immediate task in hand, but thinks outside the box to find creative, ecological solutions, He provides a prompt, reliable, friendly service and is very hard working.
